Position Title:

Student Ambassador

Primary Function:

  • To encourage prospective students to choose Rio Grande as their college choice.
  • To provide quality customer service to prospective students and their parents through campus tours and New Student Orientations.
  • To answer questions prospective students and parents may have about academic programs, student activities and campus life at Rio Grande.


Applicant must be a full time University of Rio Grande/Rio Grande Community College student in good academic standing. Applicant must have a 2.5 GPA with two recommendations, none of which can be provided by Admissions staff members. These recommendations must come from a University of Rio Grande/Rio Grande Community College official (i.e. faculty, staff or coach) who can attest to the applicant’s professionalism, character, communication skills and scholastic ability. Applicant must have completed a minimum of 12 credit hours at the University of Rio Grande/Rio Grande Community College prior to applying.

To be selected as a Student Ambassador is an honor and an excellent opportunity for personal and professional growth. Students who are selected for the program possess strong interpersonal skills, leadership qualities, a genuine interest in meeting new people and a sense of pride in the University. As a Student Ambassador, you will have the opportunity to represent the University in a variety of roles, including, but not limited to, conducting campus tours, assisting with University events, and communicating directly with prospective students.
